It is found from Mexico to El Salvador and Costa Rica.〔(A synopsis of the genus Ethmia Hübner in Costa Rica: biology, distribution, and description of 22 new species (Lepidoptera, Gelechioidea, Depressariidae, Ethmiinae), with emphasis on the 42 species known from Área de Conservación Guanacaste )〕 The length of the forewings is 10-12.7 mm. The ground color of the forewings is uniform pale gray, at times with an irregular, whitish clouding around markings. These markings are black, longitudinally elongate spots.
